Shifting Paths (Course Project)
In the Fall of 2020, I took an introductory film class through Docs in Progress in Silver Spring, Maryland. It was during the height of Covid and I was working from a cabin with no internet. I joined the class by zoom with two other new filmmakers from a parking lot outside the public library in Luray, Virginia, where I could use the internet. Using only my iPhone and laptop, I attended classes, accessed archive material online and learned Adobe for the first time. We were required to have a final project for the class and this film was done as my project within just a 8 week period. This project was done after the Dewey film and represents the first piece where I did every role with only a phone to use. I did the project as a letter to my sons and shared it at Thanksgiving.
